Dr. Catherine Lindstrand DVM is best known to her feline friends and their families as a dedicated and skilled veterinarian in Mt. Pleasant, MI at the Isabella Cat Clinic. She offers multiple services, including hospitalization, boarding, grooming micro-chipping, laser surgery and wellness health plans. Recently Dr. Lindstrand has founded the new non-profit group- The Isabella Feline Adoption and Wildlife Center. Also, she is now exploring acupuncture and holistic medicine in all species.

In her calm, tranquil state-of-the-art vet clinic which she takes great pride in, she wanted more options for her patients' health issues, and chose to add acupuncture services to her clinic for cats (and other species). Acupuncture is quickly gaining popularity in veterinary medicine and Dr. Lindstrand decided to get additional training and certification so she could add this service to her practice for all species.

Acupuncture has been used for nearly 4000 years on humans and animals all over the world and bridging the gap between medicine and surgery in the western world. China considers acupuncture as a Primary treatment for preventative care. Many veterinarians are incorporating this into their traditional medical practices today and using it when medical treatment is not successful, or when surgery is not possible.

Needles are inserted into specific points of the body to stimulate healing and restore physical and emotional balance. It helps the body heal itself. Dry needle, aquapuncture, electrostimulation, moxa and low power lasers are all used in acupuncture depending on the specific case

Common conditions treated are chronic painful diseases such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, disc problems, neurologic disease and allergies. "I have seen tremendous improvement in quality of life for animals dealing with chronic pain,” says Dr. Lindstrand and continues, "Hip Dysplasia in dogs, back pain in horses, traumatic neurologic injuries-many have been successfully treated with acupuncture." She is so glad she went back to school to add this modality to her practice and adds, "My patients get a well-rounded blend of Eastern and Western medicine."
