Sometimes it can be hard to imagine being the victim of a natural disaster. However, to the Japanese people who have been affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami, the reality of what they are experiencing is that of a Living Hell. People have been evacuated from their homes, have lost everything they owned in the world including people they love, are in need of medical assistance, food, water, clothes...the list goes on and on. Right now, help from the people of the world is needed above all else. The Japanese people need to know that the rest of us are there for them. Maybe we can't mobilize with relief efforts on the ground, but we can be there in spirit through our donations.

No other organization believes this more than Petya I. Edwards Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Dallas, Texas. Headed by director and president, Petya Edwards, charitable efforts have been temporarily refocused to help generate assistance for the people who are affected by the disaster in Japan. Regardless of geography, Petya I. Edwards Foundations believes in the mission that people are people and if someone is in need of help, it is the responsibility of the rest of us to step up to the plate and lend a helping hand.

The Foundation is currently in the process of collecting non-perishable food items, bottled water, clothes and other household items including baby diapers and formula as well as other non-perishable goods. Furthermore, the Foundation has received special approval to collect and field monetary donations to relief efforts. The Foundation is able to collect cash donations through the organization's website, www.pedwards.org, or through the cause that has been set up on Facebook entitled "Help Petya I. Edwards Foundation Provide Relief to Japan." The organization is actively working to drive traffic to both of these websites in order to generate the assistance that is so desperately needed by the greater population of the Japanese people.

Petya I. Edwards Foundation promotes assistance and helps less fortunate families and children. It is the mission of the organization to provide a stepping stone to a better life for people who are affected by tragedies beyond their control. While some of the Foundation's past efforts have helped Texans and other Americans cope with the effects of illness, the loss of a job and other situations, the current impact that the disaster had on countless families and children in Japan subscribes to the organization's mantra.

Individuals or businesses who are interested in helping Petya I. Edwards provide assistance to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan should visit www.pedwards.org or call 214-864-7574. The Foundation is currently accepting donations in the form of non-perishable food items, bottled water, clothes as well as monetary donations that will be forwarded to relief efforts. All donations made are tax-deductible through Petya I. Edwards Foundation 501(c)(3) status.
