The large designed units of coalescingplate separators are most suitable for larger industries including thepetroleum industry (refineries, terminals, depots, service stations,workshops), the mining industry (heavy vehicle washpads, lube bays,workshops), and power stations (storm water runoff, process recycling,solids settling). Baldwin has supplied coalescing plate separators to many industries and attributes their success to the fact that theydesign each system to meet their client’s individual needs.   The theory behind the coalescing plate separator system of waste water treatment is Stokes’ law. Stokes’ law is the physicallaw governing the rise and fall rate of a droplet or particle in afluid stream. It predicts the time taken for the settling of solidparticles and the rising time of oil droplets. Each has specificgravities higher or lower than that of the main fluid.
