Prevention and Wellness Month - Strategic Planning Out of the Gate

While much has changed in the health care reform scene, the number of people dying each year from preventable diseases and illnesses has yet to improve drastically. Fortunately, the positive steps being taken are expanding and the Obama Administration has already ignited their newest component of health care strategic planning: "Prevention and Wellness Month."

During the month of June, which is the official time period designated to harbor Prevention and Wellness Month, people can look forward to a number of different events that will attribute to keeping healthy and preventing health issues. Announcements, building relationships with food industries and generating new knowledge for the public eye are all on the Obama Administration's checklist.

For instance, one of the major goals for this year's P&W Month is to establish new information found on restaurant menus so that people can make real nutritional decisions when ordering their meals. Most diners don't provide their patrons with nutrition details unless it's requested beforehand - with all of the pressure being put on the country to eat a healthy diet, it would be a lot easier just to have the nutrition facts available right next to the selections.

Furthermore, another element of this new form of strategic planning is to encourage environmentally-friendly practices. The Obama Administration stated that they are very much aware of the communities across America that already support the environment, so during the month of June (and hopefully extending beyond that) they will making it their mission to support these communities as much as possible. The ideas of eco-conscious advocates around the country will be emulated through a march larger scope and hopefully all of us will be able to learn something new.

Let's not forget that the government wants our feedback as well. One of the main components of P&W Month is to give everyone a platform to contribute their ideas and innovation all for the sake of keeping healthy.
