Profit-Driven Consumption Syndrome Major Threat to Earth and Mankind

In a new book entitled The Origins of Human Violence! – Male Dominance, Ignorance, Religions & Willful Stupidity!, author Boyé Lafayette De Mente says the profit motive has not only replaced religious-based moralities it has created “an excess-consumption syndrome that is socially and spiritually insane and is like a cancer eating away at humanity and inflicting irreparable harm to the Earth.”

De Mente, known for his books on the cultures and foibles of China, Japan, Korea, Mexico and the U.S., says that the failure of religions to deal effectively with the propensity of males to engage in violence and other harmful behavior, mostly caused by them being forced to suppress their genetically programmed sexual instincts, has resulted in the profit motive becoming the primary morality of virtually all organizations, including religious institutions and governments because they too must make money to survive.

De Mente goes on to say that the areas of human consumption in industrialized societies that are the most abused by the compulsion to make a profit—and are the most damaging to both humanity and the Earth—include fossil-based energy, military armaments, wearing apparel, drugs, processed foodstuffs, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.

“The damage done not only to the human psyche and societies in general but also to the planet by promoting excess consumption of these and other products is incalculable in both spiritual and material terms,” he adds.

De Mente says that this mindless drive to make a profit based on excess consumption results in most of the imagination and creative talent of mankind being used to promote the sales of products in volumes that are not related in any way to the actual needs of people.

In the book De Mente includes suggestions for formally and officially establishing a new sexual paradigm for males and females, promoting the adoption of a universal philosophy that transcends cultural differences, and adopting a commercial policy designed to create a universal standard of living at a rational, sustainable level.
