Religion vs Relationship

Their motives were wrong because they wanted human praise . They also had evil desires that where hidden by their pious show . That is why every now and then we run across hypocrites in the church .Their hearts did not match their outward appearance . This can easily happen when people think God's will is the same thing as their list of what they can and cannot do.

Religion - ceremonial observance , pious

The Pharisees were concerned about strickly interpeting and keeping the law on all matters . But they showed special zeal in insisting that laws of tithing and ritual purity be kept . Matt.23 :23-26 They observed the Law carefully as far as appearances went , but their hearts were far from God .


Relationship - on the other hand is fellowship , partnership

Relationship is God's plan of redemption for man (Eph 1 :17-2:8-19) As we recieve God's gift the Lord Jesus in our hearts we change ( John 1: 12) We are washed in the blood , and made the righteousness of God in Christ . What we believers share in common with God is a relationship.
