While teaching our search engine course at www.abcotechnology.com, we receive many questions concerning how search engines read web page content. After several years of research and development, we discovered some very interesting free tools ,which accomplished this task. This article will begin by discussingbasic rules of page content and conclude with a little knownprofessional webmaster secret, which will help you read page contentwith the eyes of a search engine. Building content for your landingpage is as important as writing your business plan. Webmasters need topay special attention to the content, which is placed on all pages ofthe site. The home page requires proper structuring and optimization.Properly optimizing your home page will make a significant differencewith respect to the indexing of the rest of the pages on your site.Structure the site with a clear hierarchy of information and textlinks. Every page should be reached from at least one text link. Thekeyword tool featured in our last blog will help you define the keywords used by your site visitors. The keywords should be specific to your business and location. Avoid generic key words used by lots of popular web sites .Ensure the keywords you select are placed with high density on thesite. Keywords should be found on the first and last paragraph of youroptimized pages. It is possible to overdose on those key words. This practice is known as key word stuffing. Generally your key words shouldappear between 2.5 to 3% of the page content. The key aspect of contentwriting is based upon how the writer treats the key words in thecontext of the page. Review the competition for a specific key word andhow many times it was searched for by using tools such as Word tracker,the Google Key Word Tool, and Trillian, which was talked about in ourlast post. Track search volume by a defined region and specific timeframe. Google Insights for search is excellent for conducting this typeof web analytics. Insert keywords in hyper links as search engines consider them to possess important content. When referring to pages,use URLS that are related to the page content. If your site is about computer training, use URLS including:computer_searchengines.html,computer_ seo.html, and computer_topranking.html. Write a text paragraph about your site, mention your products or services, and give a brief presentation about your company.Again this should be in plane text. Link these presentations to the rest of your site using text links. It is extremely important to have aseparate page for each brand or service. Use text instead of images to display important content, names, or links. Always set a rollovercaption for uploaded images. The caption informs the search enginesabout the proper image to be indexed. Finally it is important to create a sitemap. We will cover more about sitemaps and improving content in our next blog.
