The simple answer would be yes!
The city of Wakefield has been under regeneration during the last few years with the likes of shopping centres, roads, flats and houses meaning Wakefield is moving into the twenty first century with a bright new outlook. Why should Wakefield based businesses be any different. For businesses to move into and be successful in the twenty first century, they need to have an active online image and be involved in social media in some form.
For social media to work it needs to be carried out like a big conversion between the company in question and it’s customers. Social media is a platform to communication, not a platform to speak sales speaks or push products and services. It is more a place for businesses to talk about their latest promotions - “Our summer sales starts today, grab a bargain”.
The most popular and talked about social media platforms are Facebook, which recently pass five million active users and twitter, the online community, where users following people/sports/businesses that they are interested in. Twitter provides the perfect platform for businesses to speak to potential customers that are interested in their activities and want to know all the latest information regarding the company.
Social Media snippets to remember -
* Be selective when choosing which social media channels are best for your business.
* Be prepared to update daily
* Include links, not in every post - users will be feed up of you linking back to your page. Try linking to different pages or only link when the home page has been updated (i.e. when sale launches or new products are available.)
* Respond to enquires, comments quickly, ideally within an hour.
* Decide if your following every follower back, or just following relevant industry information and staff. Don’t be selective, customers will not like this.
* Remember your using it as a business tool, so there is no need to be on it all day everyday. A few minutes and couple of times a day is fine.
