White water rafting is a very popular extreme sport. Several destinations the world over have become famous for their challenging and thrilling rivers. However, we must keep in mind that there is an element of risk due to the different elements of nature no matter how exciting and fun white water rafting may be. No matter how experienced you may be or how challenging the river you are about to ride, you should always keep in mind some safety tips to make sure that you come out of the thrilling experience alive and be able to tell the tale.
If you have never gone white water rafting before, do your homework and research on the sport. Know what it is exactly that you are going to do and know what you must be able to do. Be true to what you can do. Don’t go dive into a super extreme river with seasoned veterans. If you fall, can you swim? You might drown. It would be helpful to take swimming lessons and to work out you upper body before the rafting experience.
It is important that you not just know the physical sport but also know the playing field. There are six river classifications: class I to class VI. Class I to III is good enough for beginners. Be sure to choose a class suitable for your physical limitations. Kknow the river you are going to. In the summer, rivers are calmer due to low tides. Some rivers have more water flow due to dam releases and melting snow.
