I know it is hard to decide between SQL ServerHosting and MySQL hosting. Which is better? Which is more reliable?Which offers more features? These are just a few questions when itcomes to SQL Server versus MySQL. The answer to all these questionsis...SQL Server. While both of them are very good at keeping your dataorganized and make it available through an easy to use user interface(UI), there are huge differences between them! A major concernwhen it comes to database development is the ability to access the datathrough standard based protocols. Don't worry, both SQL Server andMySQL support all major protocols. The most common protocol is the"programming language" and is used to communicate with the database. Itis called Transact SQL, or short tSQL. You can Insert, Delete, orUpdate records in the database by using the tSQL. This protocol followsthe American National Standards Institute (ANSI) guidelines and one ofthe biggest concerns regarding MySQL is that it does not fully respectthe ANSI SQL standard. There are also major differences betweenthe two database development tools when it comes to their best uses.MySQL is geared more toward selecting, displaying, updating, and savingdata and is weak when it comes to deleting or inserting data. If youare looking to just track clients in a database, MySQL is very good atit. However, if you are designing a database for a medium to largecompany, used for any type of commerce, SQL Server is the best optionby far. It has a lot more options and features. Let's see whatthe Server has over its competitor. It supports Triggers, User DefinedFunctions, Stored Procedures, full Import/Export, full TransactionSupport, and it has Cursor Support and FULL Join capabilities. You canclearly see why SQL Server is better if you want to have full controlover your database. There are also a lot more things you can do in theServer. Administrators can abstract database designs from developers byusing the simple SQL VIEWS. Complex code can be stored into simpleinterfaces by using the User Defined Functions (UDFs). These are just afew examples of what SQL Server has to offer. Please note that thisdatabase development tool has all the features of MySQL and that all ofthe features presented here are extras. If you still can't decidewhich is better, we suggest making a one-on-one comparison and studywhat each platform can do and how it can do it. It is the best way tomake up your mind.
