Citizens for Our Bridge, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the historical significance of Sturgeon Bay’s Michigan Street Bridge, hosts the annual volunteer event. Central to the festivities is the “Construction Zone,” a week-long songwriting frenzy that infuses the festival with a slew of new songs each year. The songs are performed on stage and recorded on site, then made available for sale at local businesses and through the Steel Bridge website (www.SteelBridgeSongfest.org)

"That old steel bridge stands as Sturgeon Bay’s most recognizable icon, and is arguably the most significant structure in Door County," says pat mAcdonald, Steel Bridge Songfest co-founder and organizer. "For years, residents and tourists have recognized it as a welcoming sign to the city of Sturgeon Bay and northern Door County. Now, it's been inspiring songwriters, and our ever-growing collection of songs not only spreads the word, but also helps raise money to benefit the historic preservation of Sturgeon Bay.”
