The one thing Christians have that others do not, is a willingness to turn to God and to draw hope and strength from a belief in God. If you find that your Christian marriage needs to be saved, here are a few suggestions that may help you repair your relationship.

Assess the situation

The first step in saving any marriage is to evaluate the issues that have arisen.
Have you both grown distant or lack proper communication skills? Or maybe a more serious issue is at the core?

While miscommunication can create challenges, infidelity, lying and abuse can all wreak much more damage and will require a great deal of work to overcome.

Singularity

We often find that events outside the marriage will intensify issues within the marriage.

Always remember God's word to us. In Genesis 2:18, 21-24, God informs us, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." While family and friends may mean well with their words of advice, many times they can end up making the situation even worse.

Scripture can save your marriage

In Ephesians 5:33, the Bible states, "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband"; this is the best path towards saving your marriage and it is based on sound reasoning.

Actively show respect

One way to show your husband you respect him is to quietly defer to his decisions.
Although it may be hard to do, this means allowing him to lead your family even if you may disagree with his decision.

And if in the end, he made the wrong decision, please do not rub it in.
Continue to support him through this time, and this will show him how deeply you respect him.

Loving Your Wife With All Your Heart

Now a bit of advice for the men out there. Showing love takes a lot more than just saying, "I Love You" now and then. The bible teaches us that men should love their wives as Christ loved the church, keeping in mind that Christ died for the church!

You should set aside things that are important to you to make more time for her.

Tell your friends that you won't be joining them this week for boys' night our or give up tickets to a sporting event, but find some way to show you cherish her by taking the time to be with her.

My Final Thoughts

As always, devote time for prayer. No matter the sheer appearance of your problems, always offer them up to the Lord through prayer. God is also a excellent listener. He can offer you a sounding board, letting you to work out problems before approaching your spouse.

Let the Lord hear your concerns and ask him for the wisdom to cope with whatever problems you're having.
