Enter 2010, the development of smart phones is very rapid. All companies have launched major own-brand products and hoped to stand their ground. Of the most particular concern are Apple and Google.

Recently, the CEO of Apple – Steve Jobs announced the fourth generation of iPhone OS 4.0 (renamed iOS 4) at WWDC 10 conference. New iOS 4 provides multitasking, FaceTime video chat and many other useful features.

Happened early last month, Google also introduced a new generation of mobile phone operating system Android OS 2.2 (code-named Froyo). What the similarities and difference between the two system platforms in function? And which is better? The following are the simple measurement for reference:

iOS 4.0 VS Android OS 2.2:

Mobile operation devices they support: iOS 4.0 supports iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4, iPod, iPad (autumn edition). But Android OS 2.2 just supports NexusOne officially. And the break edition can support Android 2.1 and other variety models.

Compatibility: iOS 4.0 - iPhone 3G or above; Android OS 2.2 - co-developer and NexusOne users

Network Sharing: Both the two support it.

Playing Flash: Android OS 2.2 supports it but iOS 4.0 not.

Multitasking: Both the two support it.

Internet hotspot Access: Android OS 2.2 supports it and can be connected to eight in Wifi mode. But iOS 4.0 does not support it.

Folders feature: Both the two support it.

Copy / paste: Both the two support it.

Video Chat: iOS 4.0 just supports local (limited to iPhone 4 phones); Android OS 2.2 can extend by third-party applications.

Books: iOS 4.0 – It supports iBooks e-book services; Android OS 2.2 – It can extend by third-party applications.

Music Services: iOS 4.0 – It integrates iTunes and can be synchronized to the variety of apple products; Android OS 2.2 – It embedded MP3 function, but not synchronize desktop music.

Application Market: iOS 4.0 – More than 20 million models, Android OS 2.2 - 50000 models.

Advertising: iOS 4.0 – operates by iAd and shares to developers; Android OS 2.2 - paid through iTunes, operates through Google Mobile ads and shares to developers.

E-mail: iOS 4.0 – Unified Inbox / thread session / quick preview; Android OS 2.2 – thread session is limited to Gmail, absence of a unified inbox features.

We can know from above, iOS 4 and Android 2.2 have many similarities and differences in feature setting. In general, the life cycle of Android 2.2 iOS is shorter than iOS 4. And its market influence is weaker. But we can not ignore the rapid growth trend which is promoted by Google. The leader of this area may arise between the two.
