Seafood soups are generally prepared using broth or cream base and comprise of several types of fish or shellfishes. These soups are elements of many diverse cultures are specialities of China, East United States and France. Stews and soups are also very easy to make and are cheap as well, depends on the ingredients.
Any type of seafood can be the ingredient of the soup. The cooks who like freshwater fishes can use salmon, cream and minced broccoli to prepare the soup. The shellfish lovers can put shrimps in different soups and recipe of stew like, shrimp Gumbo and shrimp Bisque. A well-known seafood stew in California is Cioppino, it includes chicken and tomato broth to prepare a smooth base and one can add scallops, shrimps, mussels, clams, cod and crab.
The commonly prepared seafood is Chowder. The type of seafood in this recipe depends on the availability of the ingredients locally. In North Eastern United States, the Chowder is usually prepared using potatoes and clams. In the Southern part of United States, it comprises of crawfish and she-crab meat. Usually, Chowder is made with cream base, but a few are made with tomato broth like, Manhattan clam chowder.
This seafood soup can fit easily into anyone's budget; the lobster is well-known ingredient of this soup. There are many types of recipes of lobster soup, which include lobster soup, lobster bisque, Lobster Bouillabaisse and Lobster Gazpacho. Those who like to stick with a low-budget food can use canned fish like, canned crab, canned salmon and even canned tuna to make an affordable and simple stew.
To serve guests and friends the soup as an appetizer, it is better to prepare light soup like, creamy crab soup or hot n sour shrimp soup. If the stew is a standard meal, it is apt to prepare it with potatoes, bulky fish or whole shellfish. This involves recipes like, Halibut chowder, crab and corn chowder or an oyster stew. It is served with rolls, crackers or bread and the seafood soup becomes a complete meal.
