Times are tough. We are living through the harshest times in living memory and things are going to take a long time to get better. We've all been living through the doom and gloom for a long time and it's frankly getting a bit boring.
Whilst this has all been going on - other, much more positive events have been running in tandem. The rise of broadband and everyone adopting an online-life style has changed the way people and organisations run forever. One of the areas that has developed and grown in particular is the rise of online advertising.
This started with the rather backward looking popups and banner advertising - which really provided little more than a backward look to what preceded it. Then Google Adwords arrived - and this provided an incredible avenue of opportunity for the multinational organisation down to the smallest SME.
The rise of Adwords and other similar services did not go unnoticed by TV executives - in charge of providing advertising revenue that the stations depended on. There was a time in the 80’s when TV advertising rates were astronomical – with even average spots selling for many hundreds of thousands of pounds.
This has changed forever though – with the huge fragmented competition the TV channels have from online and other advertising mediums.
Thus now, TV provides the most competitively price for getting to the most end clients possible.
As recent example would be company A – a SME who provide baby accessories – were able to buy 24 slots on regional ITV over the course of a week - which would be viewed by approx 700k people at least twice – for less than £7000.
So after the production of a great video (always a key element ;) it is important to seek out the best possible rates for broadcast of your TV advert. You might think it would be best to go straight to the broadcaster, however in many cases; independent media agencies can provide better rates for clients – as they buy in bulk from the broadcasters for multiple clients.
