Video Graphics Array or VGA is a display hardware technology that dates back to 1987 when IBM first introduced its PS/2 personal computer. VGA supported a 640x480 display resolution which was transmitted in analog format using a cable fixed at each end with a 15-pin D subminiature connector. Of course display hardware technologies have advanced since that time; however the VGA connector is still a commonly used connector for computer to monitor display use.Although there is a difference in the digital processing technologies, there is no difference between a 15-pin D subminiature cable used for VGA and a 15-pin D subminiature cable used for Super VGA or SVGA. There are basically two categories of differences between VGA cables: The physical make up or construction; and the type of connector attached.Another popular VGA cable connector is the "mini-VGA" connector that is often found on laptop computers. It has 14 pins in two parallel rows and is often used in combination with a DE-15 subminiature connector to attach an external monitor or display to a laptop computer. Most of the VGA cables are constructed of a number of insulated wires twisted together that will be the makeup of one cable. There is aluminum or other metal shielding within this construction so that there won't be an interference from electromagnetics. All of these wires and such are then wrapped in some poly vinyl, rubbery or plastic form of insulations. No matter how it's put together with these materials the VGA always has 15 pin connectors or 14 pin for the mini VGA, and the connection process is always similar. Some cable manufacturers will do some extras while continuing the standard connector and pin arrangements. They may have nitrogen in the insulation or gold plated connectors, or much thicker sheathing to add performance to the cables in some ways. There are a number of home theater systems using the HDMI cable these days. You can locate it and any other connectors you require at Ugly Cable . Click on uglycable.com today, they have representatives available if you require help.
