There are many risks while performing new construction that contractors have to worry about. Utilities such as electric, gas, sewer, and water lines all need to be accounted for before construction can begin. The New York Utility Locator, Utility Survey Corp, provides customers with utility locating, utility mapping, and water leak detection to ensure safety. The company uses technologies such as their Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for concrete x-rays and Leak Noise Correlation to pinpoint utilities and water leaks. Water leaks are a common problem among both households and construction sites. It is important that they get fixed immediately before they cause further damage to a building and its furniture. What are some of the causes of water leaks and how do you identify them?

Water leaks arise for a number of reasons. The most common way is through construction. When a contractor is beginning a new project it is important for them to know the locations of utility lines. Utility Survey provides utility mapping and underground locating to insure that lines are not hit. Once mapped, color coordinated labels are used to show different utility lines such as sewer, electric, and gas lines. When not mapped correctly, or at all, it is common for contractors to hit water lines causing leaks. It is also common to have water leakage around the household. Deteriorated caulk on pipes connecting to the sink, toilet, or washing machine can happen over time. Also, small cracks can occur in water pipes due to frequent changes in weather. If a leak does ensue, it is not always easy to identify the location. What are some ways we can do this?

When water leaks occur in a construction zone, house, or office they need to be found immediately before further damage is done. This is no simple task. A leak the size of a pinhole can cause thousands of gallons of water to leak and large monetary loses. Utility Survey uses state of the art technology when detecting water leaks called Leak Noise Correlation. This process uses electronic and acoustic leak sounding devices with computerized technology to pinpoint the problem. Utilizing the Leak Noise Correlation system allows Utility Survey to help eliminate water leaks quick and efficiently for their clients.

For over twenty years Utility Survey has been providing water leak detection as one of their many services. Utility locating and other underground locating are additional specialties offered by the NY utility locator. Since water leaks can cause severe damage to buildings, it is important to have them detected immediately. Water leak detection is one of many ways that Utility Survey Corp eliminates potential and current risks for their clients.
