Later, Jordan retired from the Bulls in 1998 and in 2000 became president of basketball operations for the Washington Wizards, where he played for two seasons. He ended his playing career in 2003 and in 2006 became majority part owner and manager of basketball operations for the Charlotte Bobcats.
