Many parents find it very difficult to talk to the pre-schoolers and toddlers about sex education. Sex education for youth is considered to be a natural responsibility for many parents.
1. At some point of time, there is a curiosity among the pre-schoolers and toddlers about their bodies. They must explore them very nicely and questions may be asked at their own pace. Parents can benefit a lot by being frank and honest to the children during their early ages. For example, when a child is curious and asks his parent about the body part, the proper body part name must be given. The questions must be addressed very properly.
2. The conversation during the sex education must be taken very seriously by the parents. They must not feel shy or joke during that time. Children will obviously be curious and if they are denied, the parent-child relationship can be hampered. Many a times dads are not able to refer the female body parts to their daughters due to embarrassment. However, this awkwardness must not come while discussing sex education in children.
3. Some children tend to ask several questions. A child usually feels very comfortable when he fires questions at his mom or dad. Their genitals may be compared to the parents and questions may be asked based on that. At early stages, all kids want to know where the babies come from. Many parents feel uncomfortable in answering these questions directly. At such times, indirect approach can be used.
4. Sex education for youth may involve the concept of private body parts as well. This proves to be very helpful as teens begin to explore themselves. They also wish to explore with playmates. Curious explanation is always required. Boundaries can be learnt by children at early ages. They are also taught to set limits about the issues of their bodies.
5. It is very natural to masturbate at this age. Many parents find it very shocking. This can also be done at inappropriate times and in public. However, they just explore themselves and are not aware about the appropriateness.
6. Dealing with the conversation about Sex education for youth can be very difficult. However it is extremely vital for children and parents. Questions about sex go on getting complex and deeper. Parents should have their children dependant on them. Thus, imparting sex education in children is very essential and is the need of the day.
