The Story behind Rugby Football, a rich cultural background!

Rugby football has a rich cultural background, allegedly started by a man who had a complete disregard for soccer rules. However, there was already evidence of sports similar to rugby even before that. It was not uncommon to see players run across the field while holding a ball.

Shortly after the death of its first recognized proponent, rugby football was formalized as a sport. Although not as popular as other sports like soccer or American football, rugby has slowly spread to build followings in different countries. To date, there are many teams that compete locally and internationally. Rugby has also become the national sport for some Pacific and African countries.

The basic rules of rugby football are almost the same as that of American football. There are only a few differences that exist between the two. For example, in rugby, players can only pass the ball backwards or sideways. This is contrary to the objective of American football, which is to pass forward to get nearer the end zone. The main method of scoring for both sports is to touch the ball down past the end line. This is called a touchdown in American football and a try in rugby football.

The sport immediately caught on in Europe upon its introduction. Throughout the centuries, there have been many Colorado rugby football leagues and tournaments. Outside of Europe, however, the sport did not catch as much attention. It was not until 1874 that the first rugby match was played in the United States. This marked a great era for the sport, although its popularity waned 50 years later when it lost its place as an Olympic event.

Nevertheless, rugby is still a recognized international sport. It has managed to regain its bearing after being cut from the Olympics roster. Local and international Colorado rugby teams continue to compete in various tournaments. Although spectatorship is not as high as it used to be, it remains strong, especially in cities with local rugby teams.

The interest for intercollegiate rugby football in the United States has also grown over the years. Hundreds of Colorado rugby clubs exist in schools and universities. There are also rugby football programs for players under 19 years old.
