Both devices are follow-ups to the HMX-U10, and share many of the U10's features, including 1080p HD video, SDHC support, 2.0 inch LCD display, and a unique form factor that is similar to the candy bar Flip, but with a slightly angled lens area Samsung Camcorder Chargers.
Samsung HMX-U15, The HMX-U15 distinguishes itself from the pocket-HD-camcorder pack with its ability to snap 14 megapixel stills via its 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor. In addition, the U15 sports HDMI out, digital image stabilization, one-touch YouTube uploading, and a built-in USB 2.0 connector. Beyond speed capabilities, the HMX-U15 boasts a 24mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens. It will offer manual exposure modes in addition to Samsung's Smart Auto 2.0 shooting mode. The back panel offers a 3.0 inch AMOLED monitor for framing those high speed videos. A small area has been carved out of the back panel to provide a thumb rest.
Samsung HMX-U20, Like the U10, the U20's stills only top out at 10 megapixels. Unlike the U10, and many other pocket HD camcorders including the Flip, the U20 has a 3x optical zoom. Other features are in line with the U15, including a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor, digital image stabilization, built-in USB 2.0 connector, and one-touch YouTube uploading.
Samsung also touts the HMX-U20 for its new Dual Capture capability - a feature that will allow the user to record full-res still images while recording video. Also included is a mode called Advanced Panorama Shot with Object Tracking and dual image stabilization Samsung Battery Chargers. Advanced users will enjoy RAW support, while beginners will appreciate features like Face Recognition and Samsung's Perfect Portrait system.
Introducing the HMX-E10, Samsung adds another pocket able HD camcorder to its lineup. The HMX-E10 takes a page out of the Sony bogie’s book with a lens that swivels 270 degrees, making it easier to record video at a variety of angles. Other features include a USB port and a one-touch "upload" button to transfer videos from the device to a pre-determined site like YouTube.
High definition1080/30p video is captured by a 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor. Still images can also be captured with a resolution of 8 megapixels. The HMX-E10 is equipped with a vertically-oriented 2.7-inch touch panel LCD. When in shooting mode, the top half of the screen displays an electronic live view and the bottom offers touch-activated controls for stop, record, and play.
Digital "filters" are also offered in video recording, such as miniature effect vignette and sketch for a pencil-drawn look. The Samsung HMX-E10 joins the existing HMX-U20 and HMX-U15, which were announced this February.
The U20 carries a 3x optical zoom lens, a unique feature in a digital-zoom-only market. The E10 Samsung Chargers will not offer an optical zoom. Like the majority of pocket HD camcorders, it has a 2x digital zoom. Files will be recorded to micro SD memory media.
