You may be familiar with the concept of time boxing already if you know some basic rules of football of basketball. The idea is to score or produce something within a certain period of time. The idea originated in the software industry. It is a common practice in this business to update the products every year or so which means that the engineers are working on a strict deadline. Missing it is not an option because it would mean making the applications not up to date. It can be a problem if we are talking about invoicing software or something similar. One of the greatest advantages of this technique is that you only need a timer to put it in action.

You can use this strategy also for personal use, in your personal problems and tasks. You can apply this technique both small tasks and big projects. The idea of using time boxing for small tasks involves finishing them as quickly as possible - simply get it done and be free. It is much better than constant postponing the job.

It is a great way to get rid of those huge annoying projects. It should be much easier to tackle them when they are divided into small pieces. That makes the pressure lower and the work much more comfortable.

Here is how it works. Firstly, you have to decide on the project and split it into reasonable pieces. Next step is to set the timer. The time can be associated with the estimated period of time required to finish the task or simply the time you have available. Either way is good. When you are ready just start the countdown timer and focus on the job until you hear the alarm. It is that easy - just like finding a Twitter name.
