The advantages of eating a healthier diet are well known, and the more of an effort you make, the greater your rewards will be. Just by changing one meal a day can yield a better diet. Portion control and the time of day you eat correlate to your diet as much as what you are eating.While it may be hard to avoid, eating large meals later in the day is not the best option. Eating late can cause insomnia and you also won't be able to burn off those recently consumed calories. By eating late, you are sentencing yourself to gaining fat since you can't burn those calories off. That's why it's best to eat your larger meals early in the day, and to not eat any major meals within two hours of going to bed. If you tend to get hungry in the middle of the night, you can eat a light snack before bed. What, when and how much you are eating is so important in having a better diet. While many people are trying to lose weight, it's best to think in terms of moving towards your ideal weight. Studies have shown that either losing or gaining lots of weight in a short space of time isn't healthy, so you don't have to be in a hurry about it. Also, if you an overweight individual then you will need to start eating healthy foods, cutting back your calorie intake and getting regular exercise to get moving in the right direction. However you shouldn't come up with a plan that'll lose you lots of weight in a few weeks as it isn't healthy, and even if it does go well you'll probably put it all back on quickly. From the point of view of your health, it's actually worse to frequently lose and gain back weight than just to maintain a steady weight that's a little too high.It's easy to lose track of the amount of bad stuff in foods we eat without even thinking. These include in-between meal snacks, beverages such as soda or energy drinks, and coffee beverages full of cream and sugar. You will need to make a few alterations to your snack routine, but you can still keep these foods in your diet. Drinking water is so much better for you than consuming all those other drinks that are high in calories and sugar. Drinking tea will be so much better for you than drinking coffee. Eating nuts will give you more protein and energy for the day rather than a quick snack from the vending machine.Such choices, when practiced regularly, can make a big difference in your eating habits. A healthy diet will soon help you become a much healthier person, motivating you to keep eating in a nutritious way. People who are used to a typical modern diet that's high in sugar, fat and carbohydrates will have a challenge at first, but even then it's possible to wean yourself from these foods. The beneficial physical results, once you obtain them, will motivate you to continue on this healthy diet.
