Android’s path to being an OS fully capable of playing any kind of media was a bit hard and is still not over (there are a lot of unsupported movie formats, but players like Rockplayer are slowly changing things). Today, you can easily find apps for music, but most of them still need to be improved with new features and better interfaces. Developers are working on the issues though, and they should fix all the problems in a matter of months at most.
In this article, you’ll find some of the best applications designed for music and aimed at music lovers.
TuneWiki
TuneWiki is one of the best social music players on the market. While listening to your songs (whether local or streamed) you can search for lyrics, find out information about the artist and song, find out whether other users like it and purchase it online from any music store.
Pandora
Pandora is a great free source of music. You can’t really choose the songs, but you can create personalized stations that would stream various songs from the artists you choose directly to your phone, wherever you are in the US or Canada. You can share your stations with others, find out what is popular, and purchase the songs online, similar to TuneWiki.

Lyric Search
This application allows you to do just what its name says: search for lyrics. It uses LyricWiki.org for its searches, and you can search by song name, artist name and a part of the lyrics. You can then buy the song online on Amazon and send the lyrics by SMS or email.
Imeem mobile
Imeem is basically like Pandora above, but it works internationally, so it’s the only choice for people outside North America. They don’t have the same amount of songs in their database (yet), but they still have an impressive collection, which you should check out even if you can use Pandora. The rest of the features are similar: create personalized playlists, stream, share and buy the music you like.
Shazam
Shazam is a very useful tool for identifying any song that is playing on the radio, TV or that you just remembered. You just have to start the application, and draw the phone near the radio or TV set or even sing it yourself. The app will identify the song and let you search for lyrics or buy it on Amazon.
