In the early part of the 20th century, carnations became the official flower of Mother's Day, thus the flower should top the list.

Carnations are often worn on special occasions, especially Mother's Day and weddings. They were known as "Jove's Flower" in ancient Rome as a tribute to one of their beloved gods . – Cited from Wikipedia.

The meanings of carnations, as commonly accepted, contain fascination, distinction, and love. Different colors with different messages are always expressing multiple meanings. Light red carnations are usually conveying admiration, and the dark red ones express deeper sentiments of love and affection. White carnations are associated with purity and luck, and pink carnations are often regarded as a sign of gratitude.

The carnation in yellow color tells the language of rejection and disappointing. Then, the yellow carnation will not on my buying list .

Daisies mean innocence and purity, which are also a classic sign of beauty. 7. Sunflowers

Most of the meaning of sunflowers comes from sun generally. Wild sunflowers are often depicted and drawn by their tall stalks and bright petals stretched towards the sun. Their physical resemblance to the sun has also influenced their meanings. The sunflower’s petals have been likened to bright yellow rays of sunshine, which evoke feelings of warmth and happiness. In addition, the sunflower is often associated with adoration and longevity.
