It is almost as essential as having a valid passport to protect yourself with comprehensive travel insurance when you go on holiday. In the past, travel insurance has had a bit of reputation for being expensive and not particularly comprehensive, however, this was largely down to the travel agents that hiked the price of basic cover and sold it as an add-on when excited holiday makers were planning their trip away.    There are many kinds of travel insurance policies around the world, but eight of which are very essential for travelers. 1.    Emergency evacuation insurance covers the cost of transportation if a qualified physician determines that you must be evacuated for medical treatment to the nearest medical facility due to a physical injury or sickness. This insurance is highly recommended for cruise passengers and adventure travelers visiting remote areas. 2.    Trip cancellation insurance covers when unforeseen events cause you to cancel or interrupt your trip. In general, this coverage is for illness, injury or death suffered by the insured or a member of the insured's immediate family. 3.    A telephone number/service you can call will direct you to English-speaking doctors while you are overseas. In some cases they will also provide a physician monitoring service, where a qualified physician from the U.S. will monitor the treatment you are receiving by a local physician via telephone. 4.    Flight delay insurance (sometimes called "travel delay") typically pays for accommodations, meals and new travel arrangements once you've been delayed a certain amount of time. 5.     Annual insurance. If you travel many times a year, it may be more economical to purchase annual insurance instead of individual policies for each trip. Annual insurance may also be a good idea if you regularly travel to developing countries. 6.     STA Travel's international travel insurance. If you are a student, a teacher or a young person aged 12 - 25, one of the best deals is STA Travel's international travel insurance. Premiums cover items such as hospital stays, emergency evacuation, accidental death and dismemberment, repatriation of remains, passport protection. 7.    Baggage loss and delay insurance protects you in the event that your luggage is lost, delayed or stolen. This often includes a cash payment if your bags are delayed for more than 12 hours after you arrive at your destination. 8.    Travel accident insurance . This type of insurance mainly for tourists in riding public transport can provides tourists with services of preventing accidents. Tourists should purchase some kinds of travel insurance to protect yourselves against unforeseen events in case of heavy price caused by airline problems, weird weather and other surprise circumstance. If not, the consequence of travelling uninsured has the potential to be a lot more expensive.
