When we look at the Bible and want to know the name of God, we must consider the elements of God’s name and how He has expressed himself to mankind. Even the word “God” is not a name, but a title from the German word from which the English language gets the word “Good”. So if we want to be consistent in translation, we must find the rules of translation, and do the same things consistently when translating ancient manuscripts.

No where else is this so important as with the name of God. For over 5700 years the Jewish scribes have painstakingly copied the Torah letter by letter to insure that nothing was changed from the original scriptures. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, the comparison proved that the Hebrew methods had in fact kept every letter without change.

So in this quest for the true name of God, we must consider the scriptures and why this is so important to Christians, Jews, and Messianic Jews who hold fast the sacredness and prophesy surrounding a theme found throughout the Bible.

Hosea 2:16 - 17 And it shall be at that day, saith Yah, that thou
shalt call me Ishi (Father); and shalt call me no more Baali (Lord).
For I will take away the names of Baalim (LORDS) out of her mouth,
and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

Hosea prophesied that the day would come when we would no longer say or remember the names of Baal. To know what this means we must look at the phonetic roots of the words used to express a deity and what letters are used to signify the name of God.

The word BAAL comes from the shortened word from the Chaldean language which meant a god or deity. That word was EL or AL. In Hebrew the word was a plural word which was Elohim. Now some scholars contend that the world EL came from the Hebrew word Elohim as adopted by the Babylonians into their language Chaldea, and others say that the Hebrew was mixed up with the Chaldean language. In light of the above scripture of the prophet Hosea, I would tend to believe that the real one all powerful God did not want his name replaced with titles for other gods.

Now a derivative phonetically from BAAL was mixed together with other words to denote the creators name throughout history. As was the titles from the Arab roots for the name of God and the names of other deities. For example the word BEAL which was used to denote the same idol god as BAAL, was combined into the word BE-EL-ZU-BUB which was a Babylonian word for Satan.

The Arab ALLAH was once believed to be a mix of the phonetics of BA AL LAH ZE BUB and in other cases it has been ascribed to have been YAH EL OHIME. Later the ‘Y’ was dropped off and the OH began to be shortened into a AH sound rendering the word AL LAH from what was originally YAH EL.

In English according to Unger’s Bible Dictionary, the word “LORD” was supposed to be transliterated or phonetically imported into the new language as YAH VAH or YAHWEH. The word LORD is said to come from the name of BAAL in many other writings as well as Unger.

Over 13,000 places in the bible the word “NAME” is stressed in one way or another and is given an important place in the action of salvation, praise, as a sign, as a seal, and as above, not to be changed. So if the significance of the name of God is to be restored, one would expect that a title or generic term would not fit the purpose in replacing the Name for something other than what was originally there.

In Exodus 3:15 and the chapter as a whole, we find Moses meeting God on the mountain top and he asks “What is your name”? Yahweh tells him YHWH which in Hebrew letters at that time, being the second progression of the Hebrew language, YOD HEY WAW HEY. Known as the Tetragrammaton or the four letters, research proves out that the interpretation in the English King James Version as “I AM” will not prove out as a proper translation, transliteration, or phonetic import into the new language.

The word YAH and VEH or WEH are in fact two different words. That is where the mistake was made from the ancient to the modern English. In 1611 there were no Hebrew who knew the Jewish language, few understood Greek or Aramaic, and the last two letters were used to denote eternal existence rather than using the whole combined words to translate and import the name as is done in modern translating processes. For example my name in English is Daniel. The translation of the word is “God or El is my judge”. When it is translated, it is phonetically sounded out because it is a name. So my name is the same in every language and would not be translated or changed into it’s meaning. With the name of God in Exodus, the word was changed into just the last word WEH which is Strong’s number H1961 which in Hebrew is “Ha Yah”. HY literally means “The Yah” and is interpreted as “The Eternal” or “Eternal Almighty”.

So in 1611 the WEH was made into ‘I AM’ or misinterpreted into ‘I EXSIST”. Yet that is not a name, and that would not be an answer to what Moses asked the creator on the mountain: “What is your name”?

Now in Hebrew the letters read from right to left, and the words also, so if we read the HA YAH, which scholars of the Jewish and Hebrew language stress contains the name of God in it, the correct way to translate and transliterate the words would be: “YAH Eternal Almighty”. The VEH or WEH denoted respect for the creators name, as was preserved in the word Hallelujah and in the Bible in Psalms 68:4.

Psalms 68:4
Sing unto ELOHIM, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name YAH, and rejoice before him.

So if we are told that this name is important by Yahweh himself, then the restoration of use of the name Yah or Yahweh would be a form of honor, praise, and respect of his worshipers. In fact the second commandment is to not take or change the name of Yah, that Yahweh will not hold anyone guiltless on judgment day who uses this name in vain or causes it to be forgotten. Yet that is exactly what mankind has done.

Malachi 3:16
Then they that feared Yah spake often one to another:
and Yah hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was
written before him for them that feared Yah,
and that thought upon his name.

in Acts chapter 4 we are told that there is only one name by which mankind must be saved. We are told in scripture that the act of calling on the name and believing changes us and makes us a part of Israel by adoption. Further we are told that we will be filled with joy, the Holy Spirit, and that we will be taught by that indwelling Holy Spirit all truth. In John 4:23 -24 we are told that Yah God is a Spirit, and those who worship him MUST worship him in Spirit and in Truth.

So if we are commanded to forget and not remember the names of Baal or Beel, including the derivative of that name, and that by those names He Yahweh, does not desire us to call on him, then why don’t we forget the false names, titles, and terms, and just call him with sacred respect Yah or Yahweh?

Many over the past 30 to 40 plus years that this idea has come to light, have said that we gain victory over sin by using the name Yah in prayer. Isaiah was told by Yahweh that all men shall know my name, and in the word Hallelujah, which in Hebrew means “Praise the name of Yah” is pronounced the same in every language of the world. So if the phonetic roots and the ancient manuscripts show us a purposeful error, and we see it, then we should correct the error and obey Yahweh rather than men’s traditions or religious practice. That is the reason that I worked for 13 years to bring about the YAH BIBLE. No where before in history has such a time as this been so important to the church, believers, and those who love the truth. If we are as many say, right on the edge of a prophetic ending of life and a world as we know it, then all the more now we should see that the prophesy’s for Israel and the Jewish people are coming true in rapid fulfillment.

As Christians, Messianic Jews, and students of the will and scripture of God, we should hold to the move of the Holy Spirit and share a common heavenly father, by his name Yah.

Likewise, we should properly interpret the name of Jesus as in was in the original Hebrew, YAHSHUA. Strong’s number H3467 which means Yah’s Salvation; Proverbs 30:4 asks us what is God’s name, and what is his son’s name if you can tell? This gives inference that the names are the same in some way and part. Many Messianic Jews refuse to speak the name of YAH so they use H3091 which in Hebrew is Yeshua and is interpreted as ‘Salvation’.

The Yah Bible is designed to use the name Yah, Yahweh, and Yahshua, and we all without argument must accept that the prophetic words are being fulfilled in these last days. In light of the following verses of the Bible, if we believe, then we must know that H3050 YAH is God’s name and that the son would have his father’s name in his, because the Bible said that would be the case.

Zechariah 14:9 And Yah shall be king over all the earth: in that
day shall there be one YAH ALL MIGHTY, and his name one.

For those who take the promises and prophesies of Yahweh and his prophets as important, the YAH BIBLE is the restoration of the hopes of his coming and the fulfillment of Zechariah’s words.

As a young boy I asked my pastor what God’s name was and his answer was kindred to that of a politician dancing around the truth. He did not know, and did not think it was important. Yet at the age of seven, when I got saved, I began to read the Bible. Everywhere was “His Name”, “His Holy Name” , “Praise His Name”, and “In His Name”. Along with every varied way, the importance of HIS NAME was in every book and on every page of the Bible. That quest which began over 45 years ago has not gone unanswered.
