OakTara have published two remarkable books by Vernon Anley simultaneously because they consider 'An Unholy Love' is a sequel to 'A Carnival of Lies.' Although 'A Carnival of Lies' is not another holocaust story, the author did visit Hitler’s death camps while researching the book. While in Auschwitz, standing in the ruins of Crematoria 2, he imagined seeing seeing hundreds of men, women and children, walking down the concrete steps into the gas chamber. It prompted the question, ‘Is man nothing but ash and smoke?’ The question is one of possibility, and it is addressed by the author in 'An Unholy Love'. Both books have been praised as much for their prose as for their content. 'A Carnival of Lies' is an outstanding work, based on detailed research, often into hitherto untapped sources. Anyone the least bit interested in history, particularly during the years 1939 -1945 should read this book. Similarly, anyone interested in the nature of man and his possible immortality should read 'An Unholy Love.' I do not believe that it is necesssarily a sequal to Carnival, although it takes the metaphysical questions raised in Carnival one step further. But readers be aware, his conclusions upset many traditional beliefs.
