[p]There is a wealth of travel destinations in South Africa, but this article will focus on just two, namely the Garden Route and the Kruger National Park. Tourism in this country is increasing at a rapid rate and it's not surprising. With perfect weather throughout the year and a host of unique and fascinating people to meet and places to see, it is fast becoming a favorite with foreign visitors. Plus, due to the weakness of the ZAR (South African Rand) against the Euro, British Pound, the US Dollar, and other currencies, holidays are affordable.[br /]

One of the most beautiful areas in the Cape, if not the whole country, is the Garden Route. This is a coastal drive that starts in Mossel Bay and ends in the city of Port Elizabeth, a distance of some 700 kilometers (435 miles). The experience is so awesome that it should not be rushed. Ideally, set aside 10 days to 2 weeks for maximum appreciation. This part of South Africa has inspired many musicians, artists, and writers.[br /]

En route, you will marvel at fields of blooming flowers, awesome vistas, majestic mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and valleys. This is a genuine eco-paradise that is said to be unsurpassed in any other country. There are miles and miles of unspoiled sandy beaches and natural attractions like the incredible Cango Caves. This is indeed the richest botanical treasure in South Africa.[br /]

Stroll amongst gigantic trees like Yellowwood and Milkwood and immerse your soul in their beauty. In the months of July to December, the entire region springs to life with new blooms of indigenous flowers and plants like Tubers, Ericas, Vygies, Proteas, Bluebells, Aloes, and Pin-Cushions. Along the way, you'll definitely want to stay over for a couple of nights at certain places. Accommodation options are plentiful and include guest lodges, bed and breakfasts, cottages, plus caravan and camping sites.[br /]

Another of South Africa's premier attractions is the Kruger National Park in the province of Limpopo. Here, you are offered a wildlife experience that's the best in Africa. It covers an area of almost 19,000 square kilometers (7,400 square miles) and is home to the 'big five', namely lion, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard, plus 147 other species of wildlife.[br /]
[br /]
You can drive through the park in your own vehicle, however first-time visitors are advised to take guided safari trips. Twelve of the park's main rest-camps have accommodation. Choices include tents, huts, bush camps, 2 and 3 bedroom cottages, or luxurious game lodges. All camps have access to public phones, a post office, a resident doctor, and banking facilities.[br /]

Get advice from an experienced travel agent if you plan to visit the Kruger National Park. Also, it may be necessary to book up to 12 months ahead. The climate is harsh with summers that are hot and humid, and winters that are dry and warm.[br /]

Kruger National Park is definitely one of South Africa's top travel destinations. Summer temperatures can soar to as high as 38 degrees Celsius (100 Fahrenheit). Therefore, the winter season is preferable, especially for visitors from abroad. Also, there's a better chance of seeing more wildlife when the day-time temperatures are milder.[/p]
