Generally, on ear provides better sound. They are also more comfortable when you wear them for a long time. The quality for bose in ear is decent. You shouldn't have to worry about it breaking. Only cheap headphones dont flex (well, for the most part).I would suggest also looking into a brand like Sennheiser. They have a wide selection of headsets and such. Most of it is of exceptional quality.I have a pair of the Bose earbuds, and I wear them at least 3 times a day and I'm more than satisfied. The only thing is that the little rubber covers to the tips of them fall off very easily, but it's nothing a little superglue can't fix.
bose on ear have had a fair amount of use, but are still in mint condition. Have lost the box, but still have the official cotton carrying bag. They are fantastic headphones - music is a joy to listen to, and they are pretty good for movies too. I have to say too, the comfort of these headphones is unmatched, I can literally wear them for hours and hours on end without any uncomfort.
