The service centers of one of our Vancouver Chrysler dealers is one of the most awesome places where you can have your car get a tune-up. Of course, being a person who is acutely aware of how my car looks like when I’m driving it in public, I always try to wash it before going to a “trip” to my dealer.

So, you can just imagine my puzzlement when my Vancouver Chrysler dealer had asked me how I wash my car. Of course, never did I thought that it would be a “trick question”. It turns out that, as several Langley Chrysler customers had also assented, I had been wasting a lot of water when I’m washing my car.

I really am thankful for those Langley Chrysler customers. Instead of “admonishing” me like a preacher from a pulpit, they just shared with me some top-notch tips on how I can still make my car look like a million bucks even without wasting countless quantities of water. Of course, being the Samaritan that I am, I have been also inspired to share with you these tips as to how you can also do it. Just think of it as my way of “paying it forward”.

Here are the key things that you can do:

1. Have you ever thought about hanging out on your lush and very green lawn? Well, you can also do that by washing your car in that part of your house. My fellow Vancouver Chrysler customers have suggested that I use a car shampoo. It will not only make you car look “shinier”, it can also do that on the grass at your feet - courtesy of the phosphate that is compound of every car shampoo out there. Also, you can “water” the grass without using your lawn sprinklers, but just by letting gravity take its course and letting the water from the car drip all over the grass. Now that’s environmentally sound.

2. Not everything can be washed away with a high-pressured hose. You can do that just as easily by using a bucket or even a sprinkler attached to your hose. Well, you already know that using these last two “implements” can conserve water in your house, but what you do not know is that they are also equally effective in cleaning your car.

3. Just because it is summer does not mean that not all things have to be done outside. That also means washing your car while the sun is bearing down on your neck. Having water evaporate too fast from your car even while you are still washing it can only leave some hard-to-remove marks in your car. Just so you will be safe, try finding a cool and shaded spot where you can clean your car. In most cases, washing your car under a tree can do just fine.

4. As a Langley Chrysler dealer had so succinctly put it, nothing can be more rewarding than completing a hard day’s work. Of course, that can also refer to the way you’re cleaning your car as well. Oftentimes, you can find that a more thorough scrubbing and polishing can be more effective than pouring a whole tank of water on your car. Yes, even if all you have on your hand is just a small bucket, try take time in completing the job bit by bit. Soon, your car will look as shiny as something out of a car ad.

5. Of course, it’s understandable if you don’t want to spend hours cleaning your car. Well, here’s a handy tool for you: Just get a commercial spray. And before you get your hairs all bristled up, you can be rest assured that it’s non-toxic and is biodegradable. But if you have the resources, you can leave your car at a waterless car washing service. Just try asking some local Vancouver Chrysler dealers on where you can find a reliable shop that they can refer to you.

Just because we can get water anywhere does not mean that our resources are not in danger of being depleted. As a Langley Chrysler buyer continually stresses, washing your car has a long-term impact on how our world can function in the generations to come. Not to sound very preachy, but we have to start acting as early as now, even if it is doing something as simple as conserving water while we are cleaning our cars.
