Volvo Car Corporation, the Swedish car maker is renowned for its safety innovations. Volvo was the first car maker to introduce 3 point seatbelts for all rear cabin occupants. Volvo was also the pioneer of the Side Impact Protection System (SIPs). Modern diesel engine Volvo models are amongst the most economical cars out there, and the Swedish build quality has only improved over time.
Over the recent years car manufacturers have started to focus more of their attention on lowering fuel consumption and CO2 levels. The recession has put fuel efficiency even more in the spot light, with fuel prices continuing to increase buyers are looking for the most frugal cars. 3 or 4 years ago lots of people were "downsizing" to get better fuel economy, there is little need to do this now though, even larger cars can be good on fuel.
Car makers are introducing innovative features along with smaller engines to larger cars to help lower CO2 emissions as well as fuel efficiency. Volvo has committed itself to help lower CO2 emissions and a few years ago launched 'DRIVe towardsZero', which consisted of a range of DRIVe models. These DRIVe models are super fuel efficient and have very low CO emission levels.
Now available at [a href="http://www.lipscomb.co.uk/volvo"]Volvo dealers[/url] near you is an automatic gearbox option with all DRIVe models. The Volvo S60 DRIVe, V60 DRIVe, V70 DRIVe and the S80 DRIVe models can now be ordered with Volvo's Powershift dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Even with the auto gearbox these cars are still fuel efficient and have low CO2 emissions, here are the figures:
Volvo S60 DRIVe Automatic - 65.7mpg & 114g/km
Volvo V60 DRIVe Automatic - 62.8mpg & 119g/km
Volvo V70 DRIVe Automatic - 62.8mpg & 119g/km
Volvo S80 DRIVe Automatic - 62.8mpg & 119g/km
