Most of children, especially younger ones, may tell lies to parents at some point, but it must be a real surprise for parents who prefer to believe that those little angles always speak the truth at all times when it happens the first time. They have a difficult time in believing that their kids may lie to them. Parents should know that lying is a normal part of growing up and an important part of children development . This is another way in which children test boundaries and limits that we have given them. As children grow and learn, they have different reasons for not telling the truth. Parents should understand why your kid lies to them. Some of reasons are:    Be afraid : One reason your kid lies is because of fear. What a child is afraid of depends on the different situation. In some cases, kids are afraid of what parents will think about them or how we will feel if they tell the truth. Children think that a bad behavior can make them a bad kid, so they choose tie a lie instead of having parents consider them as a bad child.     To avoid : Children also lie in order to avoid something that they think unpleasant or boring, for instance, they will lie to have washed their hands and have brushed their teeth     To protect others: Parents may not believe their kid, even at very younger ages, is a good protector, but it is the case. In some situation, a child ties to protect someone else, both another kid and an adult.    To won prize: Believe it or not, children also lie to parents as they want to get their love and approval. They need to be prasied by their parents and to be the proud of sometimes. Children often tell lies for a variety of reasons, some of which may be mentioned above. However, some of reasons may be ignored. No matter what, it is very important for parents to be aware of them and handle these problems appropriately as lies can lead to much bigger problems for the kid and for the entire family. The measures are as follows:     Try to be positive : Parents should keep clam and explain the importance of honesty in your family, considering lies as self-protection instead of personal attacks against you.    No punishing : it is a rule that parents should keep it in mind never punishing your children owing to their lies. That is one of the fastest way to convince them lying is the only option if they want to escape physical punishment.     To separate the lie from bad acts : You parents must to remember to separate the lie from bad acts. Sometimes, they will tell a good intension lie called “white lies” which is different from bad acts. Kids tell white lies in order to protect their friends’ feelings.    To encourage honesty: You can tell your kid that you appreciate being told the truth and that you do not like it when she or he tells a lie to you. And it is better to teach the value of telling the truth to your kid than to punish him or her for minor misdeeds. Praise your child for honesty, even if it sometimes takes you a while to get it. In most cases, children lie for many different reasons, so to get your child to make telling the truth a habit. Lying is easy to slip into, so try to be patient and consistent. And remember that children want to tell you the truth. If you make it easy for them, it will; happen more quickly and more consistently.
