All businesses geographicallywide spread should go for a 0800number . This is because non-geographic numbers provide a lot of benefitsover geographic numbers. The first and most importantadvantage of a 0800 number is thatit enables the organization to publish a convenient, single number (e.g. onstationery, vehicles, advertisements) rather than, say, a list for differentcities. Changes to these numbers are rarer than changes in a range ofgeographical numbers. Moreover the charge paid by thecaller finances the forwarding of the call to the appropriate destination.Additionally, if sufficient volume is attained, the organization receives ashare of the call charge. The operator can provide toolsfor managing large volumes of incoming calls. 0800 number calls can easily berouted to call centres in different parts of the country depending on a numberof factors such as the origin of the call, the available capacity or the timeof day. The caller is less likely to encounter a busy signal and have tore-dial. Some people and businessessupport the use of non-geographic numbers because they can be cheap to call. These numbers are most useful andbeneficial when used for enhanced routing call handling services, and also sothat the same number can be kept if a business moves office or have to alterthe destination number. This can be achieved through normal geographic numberstoo, but the initial cost of equipment and ongoing service costs to do this canbe higher, and no revenue is returned.
