Why isn’t the Government still doing enough to help small businesses and the economy?

We started selling on line collectable china a few years back before the recession on old eBay. As with all businesses across the country, people have tightened ther belts and spending power has resulted in the closure and sadly loss of jobs. Yet we still read of banks that have been propped up by the taxpayer, Mr and Mrs Average Joe Public. That are still doling out huge bonuses to their employees. The revelations earlier this year with the MPs claiming for 2 nd and even in some cases 3 rd homes, whilst the rest of us with small businesses wondered when Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his cabinet – many who have resigned for various reasons- would buck the economy up and get the country back on its feet .We are still waiting! Why?   Banks have had more money instilled into them, does Browne tell them to release funds for businesses and let people buy property again and help the economy. No, instead he lets the banks dictate to him. One of the main institutions that have caused the recessions around the world with their incompetence. Lend money for mortgages but at what people can afford and appropriate to what they are earning. No with fictional hiked up earnings. The Bank of England interest rate is at its lowest, Vat was lowered but who sees any results helping this country?   High earners on councils across the country get bonuses even if they under achieve what they are suppose to be doing in their job – why? We are told they are paid these exorbitant wages as it attracts the top people .To the rest of the country it appears they are overpaid greedy people who if they weren’t paid such stupidly high wages ,the councils would be then able to spend it on things in the community that matter not fat cat wages. Why are these people paid bonuses on top of their huge wages in the first place anyway? Looking at normal jobs now, the minimum rate is what people are being paid - even if they have qualifications etc. Is not even £6.00 per hour!   Gordon Brown, a man not actually voted for by the British people as Prime Minister but by continually nagging Tony Blair so that he got the position when Blair resigned –   he got to be Prime Minister default you could say. Just seems to sit complacently by. We need a leader with get and go. With guts and determination to get Britain ’s economy moving again. To unite the country, to back our businesses and fight the recession not to give up on us. There now appears to be an even wider gulf in wage earners with some people earning ridiculously high wages plus bonuses and at the other end of the scale people scrapping by on the minimum wage or taking reduces hours or wage cuts. What happened to the values of the Labour party?   Having seen all main parties loose badly in both local and European elections, one wonders what is to become of this once great country, a country of shop keepers as Napoleon said or in our case an online shopkeeper. Does anyone care about this country or we have become a self obsessed nation only interested in a “What’s in it for me attitude”?   Opening an online store is not that easy, even harder at the moment in a recession. One finds there all manner of new things to learn. Technical stuff like Google Base, Adwords, SEO – this is all to help sell your products online. You can read absolutely page upon page on all these subjects on the internet, but there are so many different points of view it is difficult which good advice to take onboard and which not to. It is just a case of testing out different theories and sees what works and what doesn’t.   Since we sell pre-used china as replacements or for collecting, in a recession this is an ideal way to keep costs down as it cheaper to replace a cup or a plate than rather buy a whole new dinner service. Also many of the china that we sell, the lines have been discontinued by the manufacturers. If we do not stock what a buyer is looking for then we offer a sourcing service. We have been very successful at this and it proved widely popular from enquiries as far as Australia and America . Because we have such a weak pound still, buyers from abroad buying power is increased as has our customers from there.   What we and other businesses now need is this government to start backing small businesses? To get the banks lending money to businesses at a rate they can afford. To give confidence back to the people of this country so that they will start to spend which in turn gives confidence to the economy of this country. To act and be more positive instead of this prolonged negative attitude.   Back Britain .Back our businesses!! But do it NOW.
