The marriages are made in heaven. But the newspapers help solemnize them on earth, specially here in India.

Now why rely on a medium like a newspaper for as auspicious an affair like a marriage? Why go for matrimonial ads in a newspaper?

Today the social contact is on the decline, with the increased number and the increased pace of everyday chores. The time is not a very easily available resource and the traditional go between not having the influence and the reach, the matrimonial ads come in as an effective way to initiate conversations between families concerning nuptials affairs.

These matrimonial ads act as a dialog between families, with newspaper as a medium, with the specifics of the person being married and the family are jotted down, along with their wish list of the qualities they are hoping for in their partner and their families. Matrimonial ads are often put out and browsed by parents of the bride and groom. Usually, the parents of prospective brides and grooms are in the age bracket of 45-60 years. That age bracket is not known to be tech savvy, at least in the Indian market, and hence their aversion to the online medium. They are more likely to browse matrimonial ads in a newspaper than go online for the same purpose.

Newspapers give you a wider audience and at the same time, they give you the opportunity to cater to a specific target group. For example- if you are looking for a bride in Delhi only, you have the option of giving out a matrimonial ad in the local daily, thus catering to the population of Delhi only. That’s not always possible with the online medium; there’s every possibility that an online matrimonial ad of the above nature isn’t read by Delhiites at all; and that’s a sheer waste of time, and in some cases, money too.

Featuring in matrimonial ads in a newspaper has many inherent advantages. First point is its unparalleled reach. You can single out any particular area you want to focus on and can advertise in a newspaper which has a strong presence in that area, unlike online portals, which cannot have these customizations.

Second most important thing is the presence of newspapers in vernacular languages. Many parents feel at ease while reading in the language they converse in. Also, for most of them, online hunting for a spouse for their son or daughter is not a very comfortable option. So a newspaper scores in these two vital categories.

So you now know that when you choose a newspaper for finding a spouse for your son or your daughter, or even yourself, newspaper is the right option.
