Winter Honeymooning and the Lingerie to match

Year on year, the number of people choosing a winter wedding over the traditional summer affair is growing. And who can blame them? There’s nothing more romantic than scenery sprinkled in snow or a dewy glaze of ice over a landscape. But a winter wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have that dream honeymoon, a bit of winter sun somewhere exotic or maybe a ski retreat in a cosy cabin in the mountains? And of course, you’ll need some gorgeous lingerie suitable for such an occasion.

Traditionally, honeymoon lingerie is seen to be following suit from the wedding with ivory, white and blush colours mixed with delicate lace, pearls, ribbons and silk. There are some beautiful pieces that fulfil this, and in the winter months a lace adorned bed jacket or luxurious chiffon robe will be functional and fabulous. There’s no better excuse than in cooler periods to buy some heavenly hosiery. Stockings would be an obvious place to start, especially if you’re looking for some sexy pieces to take away with you. There are some gorgeous stockings and hold-up’s available which break away from the simple versions that are often stocked, so why not go for something a bit different? Brand such as Falke and Wolford have some lovely choices, from ribbon detailing to corsages. Stockings and hold ups look fabulous with any type of lingerie, whether it is a corset, Basque or beautiful bra and knicker set… you can spice up a lingerie look in an instant.

If you’re lucky enough to be escaping for some winter sun, you can indulge in some light, silky lovely lingerie. And what’s more, you can revive it once summer does come round! The likes of Mimi Holliday, Beautiful Bottoms and Myla offer some stunning sets in a number of gorgeous colours.

A winter sun holiday, will require swimwear! It can be difficult to find a good bikini or swimsuit past August, but good independent lingerie boutiques usually offer swimwear all year round. Heidi Klein always offer some really flattering pieces, but watch out for new brand Paolita for some really interesting, colourful designs and are perfectly playful for you honeymoon get-a-way.
